Scrabble, manufactured by Mattel outside the US and Canada, is the definitive crossword-style board game where 2 to 4 players compete to form interlocking words on a 15×15 grid. The game’s objective is to achieve the highest score by strategically placing letter tiles to take advantage of premium board squares, such as “Triple Word” or “Double Letter” scores.

Core Gameplay Overview

Word Formation: Players compete to form interlocking words on a

grid in a crossword fashion.
Tile Mechanics: Each player starts by drawing 7 random letter tiles from an opaque bag. Every new word placed must use at least one tile already on the board.
Scoring System: Points are awarded based on the face value of the letters used.
Premium Squares: Players can boost their scores by placing tiles on “premium squares,” which include Double/Triple Letter Scores and Double/Triple Word Scores.
Objective: The goal is to achieve the highest total score by the time all tiles have been drawn and one player has used all their remaining tiles.
